If you hadn’t guessed, I will be taking off quite a bit of time to enjoy my little baby boy.  I will still be checking email, but will not be accepting new orders at this time.

Don’t get me wrong, I love making invitations,…but assembling a large order while eight months pregnant is proving to be much more difficult than I imagined.  I am so grateful to have quite a few family members who have offered to help.  I’m not sure I could finish without them!

These monochromatic invites are absolutely gorgeous.  The bride wanted all white and cream, so we designed the invites on white luxe paper and added a few touches of shimmer with organza ribbon bows at the top, an opal metallic backing, and opal metallic inner envelopes and RSVP envelopes.  Doing the inner envelopes in a shimmer and the outer envelopes in the textured luxe paper creates an effect almost like an envelope liner, but without the extra cost.  I think the final result is very elegant.

A friend needed a rush order on baby shower invitations, so we designed a very simple, double-bordered invite with a cute patterned paper in different shades of blue and green and then a solid color cardstock.  I couldn’t quite decide which color of cardstock worked best, so I used all three!  Simple and inexpensive, but still adorable.

This Mom wanted to fill a new bookshelf rather than receive toys, so for this book-themed party, I made the invitation in a booklet style with a short fairytale about the birthday girl inside.

1. Some of the measuring/ruler gridlines have started wearing off, which will not work, since I really do need precise measurements.
2. The blade has started creating a wave on the edges of the paper.

I am sure this cutter would work great for casual use, but it looks like I will be trading mine for a profesional trimmer.

I am not sure yet how exactly this will affect invitation production.  Though I will still be accepting orders, I’m sure I will have to slow down a bit.  I guess we will just play it by ear.

This client wanted to offer a unique gift certificate option for her online store that was more like a greeting card, rather than a plain printed paper certificate.  I created several different styles of cards that could be used for a variety of ocassions – some are fairly simple and some are much more intricate (and adorable).  This was a very fun project!

Making Memories Paper Trimmer: This trimmer has a similar concept to the Rotatrim or other professional paper cutters that you would find at a Fedex Kinko’s or photo lab.  It has a rotating blade that slices along the edge of the cutter (kind of like scissors blades slicing against each other), so it is a bit different than the typical scrapbook style trimmers on the market that slice along a groove.  This process allows the blade to stay much sharper, which results in clean cuts even after a lot of use.  I really like that the 12×12″ surface is foldable, which makes it very stable but also portable.  Overall, I am highly impressed with this trimmer.

Scotch ATG (Adhesive Tape Gun): I found a recommendation for trying the ATG on a scrapbooking forum, and I’m so glad I did!  It is pretty hard to compare this amazing product with any retail adhesive products.  This is a tool made for professional framers (portrait photos or art prints or canvas, multiple mattes, custom cut frames, etc.), and it is a bit big and industrial in appearance; however, the benefits far outweigh any drawbacks.  The refills I bought are 60 yards vs. 10-15 yards at around the same price.  Good for costs as well as efficiency, since I don’t have to switch refills as often.  Plus, the adhesive lasts much longer.  Some of the invites I put together for my sample book had already started coming apart, but the ones using ATG are still perfect.  5 stars, 2 thumbs up, wonderful product!
